Week 1 Report
SENIOR DIVISION:
Senior Green - 6, North Haven - 20

JUNIOR DIVISION:
Junior Green - 20, Clinton - 34
The Guilford Juniors fought a hard battle Sunday against a tough Clinton team. Clinton struck first after a Guilford turnover. Clinton scored on their next possession which was answered by a decisive Guilford strike delivered by Andrew "the Animal" Meoli. The Huskies were stopped on their other 1st half tries by a tough Indian D. Guilford went into the half with the score 13 to7. At the opening of the 3rd quarter Guilford showed their defensive prowess with a stand on their own 1 yard line. The plays of David "Duke" Knapp, Robert "Tank" Nero, & Ryan "Thumper" Hart helped stop the Clinton onslought. Unfortunately the Guliford offense could not get the ball moving and gave up a safety. With time running out in the 4th quarter, & the Huskies winning by 27 points Guilford fought back with a TD by Tony "Pinball" Pensa. Afte another touchdown on a kickreturn by Frankie "Rammer" Ranfone, Clinton decided to try to go for one last TD with less than one minute left and the score 34 to 20 in their favor. Needless to say that the Guilford D had a little something to say about that, stuffing their attempts to push one more score past a team they underestimated.

YOUTH DIVISION:
Youth Green - 0, North Haven B - 26
Despite a tough loss against North Haven, Guilford's Youth Green showed why Guilford is one of the most determined teams on the Shoreline. Game Captains Carmen Ciardiello, Aiden Kellaher, Jake Moscarelli and Charlie Danaher led the team. Youth Green showed a continuous effort to play every play to the fullest and never gave up. This team shows Guilford's true determination and heart.

Youth White - 6, North Haven A - 32
The Guilford boys suffered a tough loss, but there were many things of which to be proud. After a tough start, the boys fought back with a long TD run by Big Ben Currier running behind a great block by Brandon Filley. Throughout the second half, tough running by Currier, Jack Jankura and Nick (Boulder) Moscato behind the blocking of Anthony Avallone, Nick Nero and Tony Dinitto controlled the play. Guilford also got a huge defensive effort from Evan Hilgert.
